Course on Hydrography at Den Haag, Netherlands, 7 - 10 October 2024
Sr Sim Ching Yen, the visionary founder of Jurukur Mentari, successfully completed the "Hydrography Survey" short course in Den Haag, Netherlands, organized by SKILLTRADE. This intensive program, led by Mr. Johan Stam, Founder and Managing Director of SKILLTRADE, with over 40 years of expertise in hydrographic surveying, offered unparalleled insights into the latest advancements in the field. The course, facilitated by Mr. John Loog, a retired hydrographic surveyor from the Royal Netherlands Navy with more than 30 years of experience, provided a deeper understanding of hydrography and the IHO S-44 Standard.
Sr Sim, already a certified Category A Hydrographer and graduate of the UTM HYDRO III Program, received a Certificate of Completion in May 2024. Graduation Ceremony of the Category A Hydrography Program
The Hydrography and Marine Technology Program (UTM HYDRO III) FIG/IHO/ICA Category 'A' Graduation Ceremony for the Session (2023/2024), organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, was officiated by YBrs. Prof. Mr. Dr. Kherun Nita binti Ali, the Dean of the UTM Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FABU). The ceremony took place on May 9, 2024, at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Kuala Lumpur.
Sr Sim Ching Yen, the Founder of Jurukur Mentari, has successfully completed the UTM HYDRO III Program and was conferred a Certificate of Completion. His achievement was duly recognized by the FIG/IHO/ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC). In addition to this recognition, he was honored with the Best Student Award and recognized for Best Student Performance during the Graduation Ceremony.

The esteemed Founder of Jurukur Mentari Sdn. Bhd., Sr. Sim Ching Yen, has participated in the esteemed Hydrography and Marine Technology Program, also known as the UTM HYDRO III course. Tailored specifically for Malaysian Licensed Land Surveyors and Registered Land Surveyors, this program aims to provide comprehensive professional training, positioning participants to attain esteemed recognition as hydrographic surveyors, both nationally and internationally. The UTM HYDRO III initiative stands as a pinnacle of hydrographic professionalism, having garnered recognition from three prestigious international organizations: the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), and the International Cartographic Organization (ICA). Commencing in January 2023, this program is slated for completion in Januari 2024.
